Hi,
I joined MSEC in June 2000. It was a pleasant day for me (as I migrated from school to college), the reason for my happy is, i thought of forthcoming enjoyments in college as shown in cinema.
They put me in fourth section. For us first year is common regardless of any engineering. We enjoyed a lot in first year as there was no much restrictions, like we could go out of campus at any time without any permission, we (day scholar) could even enter hostel, etc etc.,
In those days canteen was there near the check post in the road to hostel. There, we people went and had food with afraid of raging. Those were really memorable days.
Then from second year, college appointed Group 4. They put some strict rules. In second year people were separated according to their department. In our class (CSE), the strength was 106. Just imagine how the classes were held? We never maintained silence. While class was going on, some of my friends would shout like dog, peacock etc., mostly these mischievous things happened at lady staff’s classes.
We had some wrestlers, they quarreled all the four years with others. Some of the famous people among them are Siva, Ezil, Mega, Thenarasu, Arun. They broke the hand, head of others and would stand before the Director for apology. Our Director is such a nice person, he would support only for students and not for staffs (if a staff complains about a student).
There are lot of staffs still there in my memory, like Bala, Karthikeyan, Mukesh, Uma, Balaji, Nedunchezhiyan etc., most importantly Ganesan. He took lot of subjects, but whatever the subject was, he taught us only about ‘8 bit’ and function of floppy disk.
How I forget this? Our eminent computer lab, only one fourth of the PCs would work. Such a worst lab, so what, we enjoyed by simply sitting and chatting.
At third year they opened new computer lab, and it was ok, we really worked out lot of programs there… Now I heard that our college is very strict, have good lab facilities, placements…mmmm keep rockin….
Now comes the important matter, the gals. As like shown in films, we too had lot of love stories with comedy, tragedy, successful. In each dept some two to three good looking gals were there out of 10 to 17 gals. And obviously lot of competition for them. Even we had a love story between staffs. But unfortunately it ended in heartbreak. Lot of keralites studied in our college and mostly all of us flirted over them.
We went for tour in the name of IV, kidded lot of staffs, got lot of punishments, did chat a lot at Jagan store, prepared mini xerox for exams in ‘Akka’, ‘Machan’ stores. How to tell, I could write for more than 100 pages regarding those golden moments… still lot of interesting personalities were there like AO, Princi Annamalai, Harindran(admin dept and MBA dept) etc., Now I am working as software engineer in a reputed company and thanks to MSEC, which made me as an engineer.

All these events happened 4 to 7 years back and are solely based on my recollection. Some information may be inaccurate. My apologies in advance.

Its a very nice feeling to remember our college days. Thank u Bala for creating this website. Im a 2002 passed out student from MSEC, but still not able to pass out from the memories of our college. Its about 5 years gone since i left MSEC. As having short of time, im not able to expalin the sweet memories in detail and will meet u soon. Wishing all our friends(MSEcians) should surf this site and put their comments.

finally they are trying to get a website atleast http://www.msec.in ..Its good to see our college photos reminding all our memories and refreshing our joys and those unforgettable days ..
Hope Everyone are into their Job and im sure whenever they come across msec , it refreshes their memory and definitely takes them back to those golden days….

Hai Sreekanth , actually I dont know u any way thanks for your effort , I studied in MSEC for MCA 2000-2003 , the college campus and library is nice , BUt the attitude of the management is very worse as every student knows they r eager to get money from the students but will not giv student’s the quality of education what they want in these competive world , no good faculty for teaching every body knows one chapter of any subject with that they will teach all subjects , by god’s grace at that time college was under MK university so most of us passed , now I heard that their is no MCA batch in the college and only few people for MBA ,
while we studied their all the batches are full (because at the time their no much colleges in kerala handling MCA and MBA courses) , but if MSEC maintain the standard of education I m sure all the seats will full.
It was nice time being their , going to Ramnad “Jagan” for watching movies and sitting in the top of the BUS to reach kilakarai and giving security a pack of beedi to enter hostel at mid night , having dosa and sambar from Akka’s shop , I cant forger mayakulam Kallu , wow some times we used to buy a bucket full of kallu and will hav it in room. And at night stealing cocunut from college campus , it all was nice , exept the attitude of teachers.
Finally I married my junior who studied in MSEC now we are in Dubai , lots of guys r here from MSEC in dubai.

First of all i shud thank the people who took initiative in developing this web site.

நான் சதக் காலேஜின் மூன்றாவது பேட்ஜ் (1986..1990). காலேஜின் ஒவ்வொரு செங்கல்லும் கட்டும் காலத்தில் அருகிலிருந்து பார்த்தவர்கள் நாங்கள். பிரின்ஸிபால் இப்ராஹிம் அவர்கள் எங்களையெல்லாம் தம் பையன்களைப் போல் பார்த்துக் கொண்டார். எங்கள் பேட்ஜ் மக்களிடம் கேட்டுப் பார்த்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள். பையனிடம் எவ்வளவு உரிமைகளை ஒரு தகப்பன் எடுத்துக் கொள்வாரோ அவ்வளவு உரிமையையும் (அடிப்பதிலிருந்து அணைப்பது வரை). அதனால் தானோ என்னவோ, இன்னமும் எங்களால் மறக்க முடியாத நபராகிப் போனார். நான் எடுத்த சில படங்களைத் தேடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். அப்போது, மெயின் பில்டிங் மட்டுமே இருந்தது. பாலிடெக்னிக்கில் வகுப்புகள் நடக்கும். புதியதாக ஹாஸ்டல் கட்டியபின் நாங்கள் குடியேறினோம். கிரவுண்ட் ப்ளோர் ரும்களில் பாம்புகள் வந்த காலமெல்லாம் உண்டு. பிரின்ஸி காரில் பிரின்ஸியுடன் திருச்சி வரை சென்றதுண்டு. தாசிம் பீவி கல்லூரி அப்போது தான் வந்தது. இன்னும் நிறைய எழுதலாம். எனது ப்ளாக்கில் எழுதுவேன். தற்போது நாங்கள் msec_1990@yahoogroups.com என்ற யாஹு குருப் ஒன்று நடத்தி வருகிறோம். உலகின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளிலுள்ள எங்கள் பேட்ஜ் மக்கள் 60 பேர் இந்த குருப் வழியாக இன்றும் தொடர்ந்து பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். என்ன.. நாங்கள் படிக்கும் போது காலேஜில் பொண்ணுங்களே கிடையாது. லெக்சரர்களை சைட் அடித்துக் கொண்டிருப்போம், இப்போது கோஎட் என்று கேள்விப்பட்டேன். நல்லாருங்கப்பா…

Ok I was in the 1991-1995 Batch ECE. At present in USA.
I am glad to hear that still those small shops/hotels (and whatever u call it) are still in business. Kamaraj kadai was our sanctum. We used to call one shop next to the bus stop (close to the Polytechnic Campus wall) as Vathiyar kadai and next to the Sathak Complex as Ganesan kadai and Kamaraj Kadai. Kamaraj opened his shop right next to Ganesan to fulfill the missing hotel part of the business. The shop next close to the main entrance was Akka kadai.
The Kallu kadai was referred to as “Suruttai annan Kadai”. There used to be a small Murugan Temple on the way to Eervadi in the small Village. I guess the Thendral Theater in Ramnad is long gone since there are no mention of that in any of the previous comments.
It is funny how come there is no mention of the hostel mess. It was a nightmare back in our days. Just horrible. Thats one of the worst memories. we used to find Scorpion, cockroach and many more in our food. Upma and Pongal were the most common things among our Breakfast menu. I believe it got better over the years since there is no mention of it.
There was a college Canteen. This was not better than the Hostel mess. But something different, when we can’t get out of the campus. Any improvements on the hostel mess and canteen?
Another funny thing mentioned in one of the comments was about the college staff and computer labs.
College Staff – no comments as I do not want to hurt anybody’s feelings if someone really stumbles upon this blog. Simply put, there was no real teaching or understanding of the subjects. Some of our classmates were much better in explaining the subjects. I still remember some of our friends giving mini classes just before the university exams.
During our college days there was a computer lab. In the middle of the lab there was a small room for Vice principal. This is a glass room so that u can view computers from the vice principal’s room. We get to see the computers only when we were involved in some kind of mischief. If there is a problem, we will be called into the Vice Principal’s room for inquiry (step 1 towards getting into the Principal’s office), so during the inquiry we get to see the computers thru the glass doors. Thats abt it. Computer exams – Basic and FORTRAN, most of us passed the exams with the help of Bit Amman (without ever touching a computer) are now Software Engineers. Micro processor lab – only a handful of ppl managed to write a real program. Rest of us – as usual Bit amman.
Now my batch mates are setlled all around the world in well to do positions. We do keep in touch thru Yahoo Groups. MSEC1995 is the Yahoo groups name.

Even though, we did not have proper infrastructure, we enjoyed our college days, as many of our juniors stated, frequently we were going to Kilakarai-Apsara and Ramnad theatres and during our period there was no restriction in night timings. ( these were the only avenues for entertainment !!!)
As someone mentioned, we have literally seen college & hostel growing in front of our eyes, I think, we moved to new hostel within the campus during our V-Sem.
I am keen to revive contacts with my batchmates; If any one have the contact details or ID of yahoogroups etc., may please share.

Hi I suddenly stuck at this Blog when I went to search for MSEC Alumni in Google. Good to see this blog established for refreshing the memories from college days. I came from the 1986-1990 ECE batch which is the 3rd batch for the college. We proudly claim that we are the first batch who initiated the participation of MSEC for the Cultural Competitions takes place in Alagappa every year. Also from our batch MSEC started participating in the TIES (Tamil Nadu Inter Engineering Sports) Meet. I remember we had it in REC, Trichy during 1987.
I remember the expedition to Rameswaram by cycle from our college with 15 of our hostel mates. We were accomodated during 1st year at Domitary 12 in 1 room at Kilakarai with the bunk beds. and then from 2 year we all moved to newly inagurated Hostel which was still under construction.
I still remember principal Dr. Ibrahim for his well known short temper.
During our period we were able to get the funds allocated by the management for expanding the library.
We are having the yahoogroup successfully connecting almost 100 of the students from the batch 1986-1990.

I am S. Balamurugan (Neyveli) -1987-91 Mechanical Batch. I am best known as ‘Mambattiyaan’ in our batch for all my violent activities following my family tradition.
Our batch experience was unforgetable. My attendance to classes (including exams) in 4th semester was ‘Zero’. But still I managed to get first class despite the ‘break system’, by God’s grace. Appeared 18 papers in 5th semester and cleared 16. My friend, school mate Shoni Zacharias (now in Dubai) broke the record by clearing 20 appearing 25. We were playing cards all the time. I used to loose money meant for paying my mess bills by playing cards. Once Dr. SH Ibrahim was chasing out in bushes and requesting us to go to classes.
Once he caught all of us and adviced us to attend classes for at least 2 hours a day. He woul grant minimum 20 as internal mark. “Andha deal, enakku pudichaathala, I attended’. This was another reason to secure first class.
I was very notorious/mischieveous/pranky in my batch. In the very first fight among two batches in MSEC history, when my class mate ‘rogue’ Gunaseelan was hit by our seniors in groups, I came out with a cricket stump and broke head of one of the seniors. Later I found out he was Selvamani (my senior) and close relative of Gunaseelan himself. I used to break entire switch board on the wall in one good punch. Even today when I meet my friend Kuppan Arulmozhi (nick named Korangu) who lives in Singapore, reminds me of those switch breaking punches.
We used to play videos in hostel on weekends. 2 normal movies first and later ‘matter’ movies. ‘Matter’ movies would be played secretely in rooms and that hostel room used to be jam packed. While watching one of movies ‘appuraani’ Govindasamy asked me,”maapillai, ippidillaam kooda ‘pannuvaangala’. Unforgettable dialogue.
Another unforgetable incident was, we sold all our first books even before the results came to tour Kodaikanal. We also stole others books and packed them in a box and carried all the way to Madurai, to sell them for 50% marked price. Later when results came, we were short of books to study for arear exams. But a good part of the money was stolen in Kodaikanal hotel and we had to come back without money cutting the planned trip by 2 days.
After passing out in 1991, I came back to our campus in 1997 to collect my degree, I found immence developments. I hope now after almost 20 years of my passing out, the campus has grown up in all dimensions.
I wish all my seniors, batch-mates and juniors and future MSECians, a great success and bright future.
I suggest that P. Gowthaman our batch ECE student whose dauaghter completes 12th this year, admits her in MSEC, so that she learns her father’s mischieves during his study. We used (and still) call him ‘Pattaani’. He works as General Manager in TVS Software Bangalore.
About me now: I have moved from Neyveli to Bhuvanagiri, near Chidambaram, married to Kayalvizhi who completed ECE in RVS, Dindigul in 1999. We are blessed with 3 children- 2 daughters and a son, all studying in EGAMS, Chidambaram. I am earning handsomely working in Oil and Gas Industry- Addax Petroleum, Nigeria and do a rotational job of 6 weeks-work and 2 weeks-off. I am back with my family for 2 weeks.
I stay in touch with many of batchmates across the globe. I still can’t find whereabouts of ‘Appruraani’ No-vindu, sorry Govindasamy of Neyveli, aadu Kamaraj, Nadigai Kadalorakavithai Rekha rasigar mandra thalaivar- Annan arisi moottai Dhanapal and few more. But I am in touch with most of them. Most of my batchmates are in very good status, few still struggling to come-up. Greetings for who have come up and best wishes for the strugglers.

Good to see the blog about ” MSEC “.
My name is Arul and I am from 1984-88 first batch.
Wow .its been many years ,life went very fast.
Kilakarai & MSEC – some of the precious time of my life.
Young and dont care attitude was the age period that I spent there.
Kilakarai is the coastal town with rich & poor mixed.
When we started our hostel life in the corner of Ervadi & Kilarai junction,hardly one tea shop and cigarette shop was our outlet mall.
During the summer time & study holidays – cricket & evening movies was out timepass. Night out studies and 16 mm movies — great memories.I stayed in A4 room and still we are in touch with some of them ,Thanks to Facebook.
Nizam from 84-88 batch maintains MSEC first batch in Facebook.
